Saturday we went to the Dogwood Festival in Piedmont Park in Midtown/Atlanta. This is my favorite of all the arts festivals around the city. And I've been to most of them, even had a booth in some of them about 6-7 years ago.
This year, my husband & I took our son. It was such a lovely day. In the shade it was cool, it juuuust started getting humid. But it wasn't the wet blanket it usually is down here in the dirrty south. We threw him in the stroller, and well, strolled. We collect prints from our favorite artists. I don't really have "Originals" money, I have "small, unframed prints" money.
And the art I'm looking for?
1) Anything that makes me laugh out loud. We have several of these: a giant cardinal on a wire, a sock monkey smelling a flower with a T-rex in the background.
2) Anything that inspires one or both of us.
And this year, we found an amazing Atlanta artist who paints landscapes that are so very colorful and inspiring. I will have to update this post later with his name, as it escapes me now, and I'm already in bed and loathe to leave.
It was a lovely way to spend a Saturday. When we were done (I'm pretty certain we didn't even see the entire thing, it's that big), we headed up to drop our son off at his grandparents' house to spend the night. NanaPapa camp, they call it. He loves it there (probably because they never tell him 'no' and there are no rules. and as long as I don't know about it, I'm cool with it. (and this is exactly what I told them — don't tell me if you give him candy and sugar and junk. please. lol))
We said goodbye and headed to dinner in downtown Alpharetta just the two of us. We sat on a patio and enjoyed the weather and the sunset over the trees. We haven't really had much alone time recently, so it was really nice to connect and talk without distractions. I even put down my phone. lol
Sunday, I slept in! It was beautiful...I spent 12 hours in bed, y'all. I love my bed. Husband went to pick up Son. At noon, Husband left to go play D&D and I was alone with baby and pup. It was a restful day.
Then Game of Thrones disappointed me with only an hour's worth of content ... and did they really have to show so many people on roads? You have 6 episodes and you waste time with wagons and marching? harrumph.
And that was my weekend. 💜
